india: life lesson 1
it is common practice in our household to allow the dogs to sneak into bed with us to watch a movie. two nights ago was no exception. a nice movie, a regular, everyday snuggle.
just when the movie began to get interesting, indie slips off the bed (downward dog, then up dog, then a careful descent onto the floor followed by a stealthy journey downstairs). my husband and i have recently realized that indie actually “sneaks” around. when she knows she’s up to no good, you will see her quietly and sneakily walk around the house, as though she is an animated creature from a cartoon, trying desperately not to get caught, but looking incredibly guilty.
all the while, my husband and i are oblivious to these goings on. we are watching a movie and it is getting good. the dogs like movies, right? yes dear.
indie comes back up to bed, guilty as a 3 year old with hands covered in chocolate and head half-buried in the cookie jar. it does not take my keen sense of observation long to realize that skinny indie has gained 10 pounds in the past 5 minutes.
brand new 30lb bag of dog kibble sitting open in the kitchen + skinny disobedient dog + utterly irresistible temptation.
through the rest of the movie and actually, the ENTIRE night, indie keeps the whole household up with her whimpering, whining and wheezing.
india’s life lesson 1: my parents spend $50 a week to feed me fancy raw food, i don’t think i need to gorge on kona’s trashy kibble and eat my face off until i can’t breathe, then cry about it all night.
